PAINTING DU JOUR

Hello, my name is EDITH. This is my blog on which I shall post images and products for my stores. These paintings were created for The Edith Collection, Inc. which is a company I built to license images to manufacturers for use on their products.

The images from various collections will be posted here representing my everyday designs, SHOP DU JOUR ; rustic lodge designs, COBBLY NOB; and my exotic animal, skins and tribal designs, WILD. The designs are being used on cards, gifts, accessories and apparel.

Many of these painting/illustrations which were shown only to manufacturers are now available. These images are in EDITH'S GALLERY DU JOUR.

COBBLY NOB Rustic Lodge shoes

Keds shoes. They are really great little 'go abouts'. The fall season will be upon us and this design is a good outdoor creation featuring the BLACK BEAR of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. I have this look and the following which is just the fall leaves, pine cones and pine needles without the Black Bear.

These designs and all other shoes designs will be continually growing in SHOES DU JOUR.

These shoes will be in the shop in about 24 hours! They are going through the proper channels right now. The design has much more available and those products are in COBBLY NOB, my rustic lodge store inspired by the beautiful woods where I live.

COMING TO GETHER- SHOPS & PRODUCTS

I am pulling together the shops with their products, the galleries with the art available for purchase, and the blogs which reflect the action. Here is an example of that effort. This is a picture of the store section.

This is a new section of design which I have place in SHOP DU JOUR. Each one of the designs has shoes which are made of the same design but those shoes are in another store. The shops are being filled daily. Not all everyday but work on them each day.

An example of a shop product, a card...

and then the coordinating shoes for the design found in SHOES DU JOUR.

The Galleries which will contain the postings of the original paintings/illustrations go up each day for Christmas, Halloween and Everyday designs.

GARDEN PATCH DESIGN

Summer means gardening! I created this summer garden design for use on a variety of products and this summer I am using it in my SHOP DU JOUR for cards, gifts and accessories and apparel. This image was painted in gouache and was used successfully on many manufacturers products.

Visit my store and check out the products and then check out SHOES DU JOUR for matching Keds to really make summer a fun time! I am filling this shop with shoes to match the products of SHOP DU JOUR, WILD, COBBLY NOB, HALLOWEEN NIGHT and CHRISTMAS DEPOT. This will be a continual program and will not all be there at once.

BUILDING NEW PRODUCTS

The designs for everyday are being compiled into grouping for SHOP DU JOUR and COBBLY NOB. There will be other designs which were licensed under the pseudonym Mary Parker such as a collection of teddy bears simply called MY BEARS, and a number of cat and rabbit designs that will fall into the everyday catigory, making the SHOP very diverse in design.

The design below is a border from the TUSCAN SUMMER collection. It has the rapid movement of the Italian motifs which are used in the market today. This will become a mug. Many more are being edited and prepared for the products in my shop.

AVAILABLE Art from standing portfolio

I have a very large and diverse portfolio of existing art work which was created for The Edith Collection,Inc. It covers everyday images, Christmas and Halloween, teddy bears, rabbits and such. This work was designed and painted by me for licensing to manufacturers from 1990-2005. I have been trying to reconfigure the portfolio for a new project which would allow the images to continue to work for me through the same type of product they were created for by using on line shops (print on demand). Secondly, opening my portfolio and taking the images which would be of interest to people who collect Christmas art, Halloween art in general or the Mary Parker illustrations, decorators, folks who just want to purchase original works for their own purposes, etc. etc. Thirdly, after getting these two areas built and configured, it would open the door for me to be able to return to painting.

Well, that was the plan and today I can safely say I have the following shops for the products such as cards, gifts and accessories and apparel:
WILD A shop which has my tribal and primitive designs inspired from Africa, Australia, and South America. Exotic wild animal designs rendered in a realistic manner and in bright color motifs.

COBBLY NOB A shop that contains work which reflects the wonderful area where I now live, the Smoky Mountains.

SHOP DU JOUR A shop that will contain my everyday images in paintings and illustrations which cover a wide range of subjects from gardens and insects, to figure and whimsey.

HALLOWEEN NIGHT Well, this name speaks for itself, a Halloween shop which will be filled with all my Mary Parker Halloween illustration for cards, gifts, accessories and apparel.

CHRISTMAS DEPOT Images from one of my largest portfolios, Mary Parker Christmas, will contains hundreds of designs which were successfully used by manufactures for Christmas products. I will take me a couple of years or so to use all of my designs. So from July through December I will be able to add new work regularly.

These five CafePress shops have be under construction for sometime. I have had to learn how to use Photoshop CS3 and all the software and computer work including the platforms the shops are using (still miles to go and learn) as an autodidact. But now these shops can be coordinated with SHOES DU JOUR, a Zazzle shop, which I will coordinate Keds shoes with the designs I am using in the above CafePress shops.

My portfolios of available paintings/illustrations are now configured and I am learning how to put the images into the different galleries with the PayPal Button. With time and regular attention, I hope to successfully sell these images and arrive at my long sought for objective of painting and posting the new work.

Objective: When someone purchases a product (be it a card or a gift or apparel) in one of my shops, they will be able to see the other shops; purchase the original image; follow on Twitter; follow my blogs; go to my site; or they will be able to easily email me from any location. I will be able to paint and to be in touch with interested people.

Now What

OK, so I went and selected an image. Then I discover that those I signed Mary Parker, my pseudonym, should be also signed by me as Edith. Then there is the need to have the correct size and the shipping procedure. I know about this as I shipped products before for a 10 year stent. Still it is different. I also need the date it was painted, etc. etc. So back to the thinking department until I have these loose ends tied up. All has to be solved and in place before July. Great, that means some more brain drain for the best way to allow this to flow while I continue to put new product in my stores and START the program of painting once more. OK. I out of here for a while.

On Posting Originals

I am working on the effort to place original art work, paintings/illustrations, in my gallery blogs. I have gotten the PayPal BUY NOW button and the images which I put on line will all be for $100 plus shipping. However, the big however, I have to learn how all this works and that is the spot where I am at the moment. Testing the plan!

TO SELL ORIGINAL ART WORK

I am most nearly ready to start placing some of my images from my standing portfolio for sale. I am not sure exactly how to go about this as this is an entirely new experience for me. My portfolio was built by rendering images in groups or as it is said in families of like design and those images in turn were presented to manufacturers for use on their products. I successfully built a large and diversified portfolio from 1990 through 2005. That work was never presented to the public until I began to put some of the work into my on line shops during the last year or so.

Building the collections in the portfolio was fun and exciting; however, life goes on and all good things must change just as the seasons. I had the opportunity to do something I had wanted to do for many many years; so I took it. I moved from the most wonderful home with a super studio and access to many delights to a completely new and different way of life. I moved to the Smoky Mountains and into a log cabin. I have had many unexpected challenges and surprises and a lot of homesickness for all the pleasures I forsake but I have just about recreated my wheel and hope that the program I am putting into effect is a successful plan. I have done a major portion of the work on this cabin and have created a wonderful little hide-away for myself and for my wonderful patient and understanding husband. Because I am so delighted with the cabin, I have created a spot to put pictures and stories and details about the experience to share with any interested persons, VERANDA - CABIN IN THE SMOKIES.

The standing portfolio is being used in my stores (Shop du Jour, Cobbly Nob, Halloween Night, Wild, Christmas Depot) and the original art is being opened for sale. How to best sell the work is a challenge. I am going to try selling it with the BUY NOW button from PayPal from one or two of my sites and by July I hope to open the eBay store and see if that will accomplish anything.

For the exciting point of this new wheel, I have fixed another studio, although much smaller but with a great outdoors area expressly for the purpose; I will paint freely. This beautiful place in the woods has always inspired me to created designs and provides me with the peaceful and ever changing environment for thought and calm.

It has taken me 3 full years to do all the things necessary and to change my entire being and painting style in a completely different direction. I have learned enough on the computer to edit the images and evolve them for the shops products. Also, I have acquired a web site of my own, THE EDITH COLLECTION. Thanks to RapidWeaver and their wonderful support system and all the plugins, snippets and themes I can build and improve my site as I learn more about the 'hows and how nots'. Now, of course, I will wait for the 'butterfly'.

The galleries I am placing the original art work in will be ready by July 2009.
EDITH'S GALLERY DU JOUR will contain work presented in the shops Shop du Jour, Wild and Cobbly Nob shop.
MARY PARKER HALLOWEEN GALLERY will contain illustartions presented in Halloween Night shop.
MARY PARKER CHRISTMAS GALLERY will contain illustration presented in Christmas Depot shop.

I am open to receiving your thoughts and ideas.
